  • is a colour specialist known for rich reds, dimensional coppers, and effortlessly lived-in blondes. With a refined approach to long and medium-length feminine cutting, her work balances softness, polish, and wearability — creating hair that feels cool, elegant, and easy to live in.

Having trained alongside some of Australia’s leading hairdressers, Kate has developed a style that is distinctly her own: thoughtful, modern, and tailored to the individual. Her approach combines technical precision with an intuitive eye for tone, shape, and overall aesthetic, delivering results that feel elevated without trying too hard.

A true inner-city girl, Kate is deeply connected to Melbourne’s creative and cultural scene, bringing that influence into both her work and the experience she creates behind the chair. Equal parts effortless and detail-oriented, she understands the balance between polished hair and real life — creating looks that feel at home from gallery openings to late-night wine bars.

At Salon Spaghetti, Kate brings a calm and welcoming energy to the chair, creating an experience that feels personal, relaxed, and creatively considered from start to finish.

Alex Newman
Creative Director

Alexandra Newman is an award-winning hairdresser, Creative Director and the founder of Salon Spaghetti — a Melbourne salon built on great hair, good hospitality and serving looks without taking itself too seriously.

With a career spanning luxury salons, editorial styling, fashion week and international creative programs, Alexandra has become known for her instinctive approach to hair — balancing technical precision with individuality, ease and a strong sense of personal style. Her work has been recognised through the Australian Hair Fashion Awards and the Hair Expo Awards, alongside selection into the internationally recognised F.A.M.E Team mentorship program.

From backstage at Melbourne Fashion Week to years spent refining her craft within some of Australia’s leading salon spaces, Alexandra’s creative perspective has been shaped by fashion, interiors, travel, subculture and the people in her chair. Think polished but a little undone. Expensive but relaxed. Hair that looks good in real life, not just under salon lighting.

Through Salon Spaghetti, Alexandra has created a space that feels equal parts studio, salon and dinner party — championing collaboration, sustainability and genuinely thoughtful client experiences. Under her direction, the salon has become known for lived-in colour, modern cuts and a warm, design-led atmosphere where creativity and community sit side by side.

Serving looks, good conversation and very good hair, Alexandra continues to shape a more modern, inclusive and creatively driven future for Australian hairdressing.

  • With over 20 years of experience behind the chair, Leah brings a calm, grounded presence and a deeply personalised approach to hairdressing. A cutting specialist with a love for natural, lived-in colour, her work is thoughtful, effortless, and designed to enhance each client’s individual style rather than overpower it.

Originally shaped by the relaxed energy of the Northern Rivers, Leah brings that same warmth and ease into the salon experience. Soft-natured and an exceptional listener, she creates a space where clients feel genuinely cared for — taking the time to understand not only how they want to look, but how they want to feel.

Outside of hair, Leah has a strong love for hospitality, good conversation, and great wine, bringing an intuitive sense of service and connection to every appointment. Her approach is equal parts refined and relaxed, delivering beautiful hair without the fuss.

At Salon Spaghetti, Leah embodies the balance of creativity, care, and community that sits at the heart of the space.

  • Salon Spaghetti is growing, and we’re looking for hairdressers who want the freedom to run their business their way — with the support of a team that shares the same values.

Our co-op approach is designed for creatives who value independence, collaboration, and a thoughtful client experience. Build your own clientele, shape a schedule that suits your lifestyle, and work within a space that champions creativity, professionalism, and community over competition.

If you’re looking for a salon environment that supports both autonomy and connection, we’d love to hear from you.
